New Mix - Elements

It’s been many months since I have put together a DJ mix, this new one is titled Elements. With my old job ending and my new job beginning, what better way to spend some of that free time than to find a voice through music. This is the second mix where I have tried very hard to turn a bright progressive sound into a trance mix and I’m loving the way it works. You can download Elements.mp3 from the DJ Mixes area. Enjoy!

New Track - Letting Go

In February 2008 Surya sent out an email to Stargaze calling for musicians for the RPM Challenge (www.rpmchallenge.com). This challenge involved creating an entire album of music during the month of February as a way to get yourself inspired and creating music. It’s not about creating *the* track or album, it’s about creating *an* album and getting off your ass to create stuff.

So, I didn’t have time for a whole album, but we decided to do a compilation with tracks from various artists. My part for this consists of one track which I call “Letting Go” which I have posted to the music page.

Vacation Photos

The first 2008 photo galleries have been created and are now online with some vacation photos.

First we went to Cairns where some friends of ours moved to from San Francisco a couple of years ago. Diving in the great barrier reef was really spectacular. Paul and I did our first "self guided" dives, where it was just the two of us exploring by ourselves and not in a big group. We also did our first night dive, which I was really freaked out about because I thought it would be easy to lose the group ... however, it turns out that you can see the lights of the other divers and the boat really well and or quite a distance so it wasn't too bad.

This was also our first attempt at underwater photography ... we bought one of those little plastic waterproof cases for the digital camera in the hopes that we'd be able to get at least some pictures when diving. It turns out that underwater photography is pretty hard, so we didn't get a lot of really great pix, but it was a fun thing to try that will hopefully get better the more we do it. Big thanks to Paul for taking all the images and color correcting them for posting online.

We then spent a few days in Sydney which was really a fantastic city. We saw the Opera House and a lot of the city center. It was also Mardi Gras while we were there so on saturday night the whole place was busting with people and parades and everything. On sunday we saw Cyndi Lauper at the State Theater ... and she can still rock after all these years ;)

After Sydney we went to Bali for a four or five days. Paul's parents (Evi and Steve) have been living there a while so it was really nice to hook up with them while they were there. Evi did a fantastic job of planning this part of the trip for us, thanks so much for doing that Evi! We went around about half of the island and saw things ranging from fancy tourist spots to temples to small little villages. It was also the Bali new year there so it was pretty exciting to see all the villages build these big demons (called Ogoh Ogoh) that they then paraded through the streets and burned. We also saw the mother temple of the island which was incredible and did a shipwreck dive just off the beach where we tried to take more underwater photos.
